LOST

How WILL YOU GO ABOUT FINDING THAT THING WHICH IS TOTALLY UNKNOWN TO YOU?

*This project won the FIRST PLACE MELON AWARD at Loyola University Chicago Senior Art Exhibition in 2018.

I am extremely proud of this project; I completed it for the Senior Art Exhibition in 2018, where it was displayed on a flat-screen TV in Loyola's Ralph Arnold Gallery.
I have always had interests in illustration and animation, and this project gave me the perfect opportunity to explore a complex digital medium. Using a combination of Illustrator and After Effects, I recreated the feeling of being lost while traveling, inspired by my time spent abroad in Europe. I had to teach myself many animation skills along the way. It was definitely a learning experience, and a project I believe is a perfect jumping off point for where I want my career as a designer to go from here.

The description in the gallery read:

"Looking back on it now, I know that my experience studying abroad in 2016 changed me. At a time in my life when I was feeling unmotivated and uninspired, traveling opened me up to the world and allowed me to see people and places differently. I was thrown into new and exciting cultures. It was there, in Europe, that I learned I was most authentically myself when lost in my surroundings. Memories may be fleeting, but it is experiences like mine that can stay with a person throughout their life. It turns out that sometimes “lost” is the best thing to be."
